Career
Vertue was educated at the Convent of the Holy Family in Kimberley and studied at Street Paul’s Theological College, Grahamstown, at the Stellenbosch University and at the Street Beuno’s, North Wales. She was ordained as one of the first woman priests by Archbishop Desmond Tutu in September 1992. She was elected bishop of False Bay on 3 October 2012 by the Diocesan Elective Assembly and she was consecrated on 19 January 2013 by the Most Reverend Thabo Makgoba, Archbishop of Cape Town.
