Her acting career started in 1981 when she was cast for the film Tacones. She would later gain notoriety in Colombian television with her roles in telenovelas Gallito Ramirez (1986), Los Pecados de Inés de Hinojosa (1988) and Calamar (1989). Her starring role as "Gaviota" in Café, con Aroma de Mujer (1994) received widespread acclaim both in her country as well as abroad.
