In the 1980s, she was appointed professor of Psychology at the McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada where she remained for the rest of her life. She was a former editor-in-chief of the journal Evolution and Human Behavior along with Daly, and served as president of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society. In 1998, Wilson was named a fellow of the Royal Society.
In 2000, she wrote the foreword for the controversial book by Randy Thornhill and Craig T. Palmer on rape.
