Maria Araojo is documented as a partner of Noronha Advogados, a law firm based in São Paulo, Brazil. Her documented legal practice covers general practice, banking and financial, commercial, civil, taxation, corporate, antitrust and labor law.
Noronha Advogados was founded in 1978 and describes itself as the only law firm based in a developing country with a global presence. The firm's own account states that it opened a commercial presence in London in 1987, becoming the first Brazilian law firm regulated by the Law Society of England and Wales, and that it established an office in China in 2000. Its European activity dates from 1988, and the firm has also maintained a presence in the United States, Argentina, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
The firm began operating during the period of military rule in Brazil, which its own history recalls as a difficult environment for sustaining growth. Brazil was emerging from more than two decades of dictatorship in the mid-1980s, when a constituent assembly had been installed and a transition toward democratic rule was under way.
