Career
When a child, Maria took up her dance classes given by such great masters as Matilde Coral and Manolo Marin. The dancer began her professional career as a soloist at the Antonio Gades Company. However at the end of 1980s she made a decision to establish her own company. ‘Sun and Shade’ was the first performance introduced by the Maria Pages Company in 1990.
In 1996 Maria was appointed art director of Andalucia Dance Company where she put on the stage ‘Bulerias’. The performance won the Theatre Directors’ Association Prize and the National Choreography Award . Two years later Maria inspired by Francisco Goya’s works, introduced another performance named ‘La Tirana’. The Maria Pages Company played the dance performance at various international festivals in Germany, the USA, Japan, China, Italy and Israel.
