Marianna Vladimirovna Alferova was born in 1956 in Saint Petersburg. She graduated Polytechnic Institute and worked as a designer. The first writing experience was at school - based on a story a day, a novel a week - variations on the theme of reading.

Marianna Alferova tries to work in different genres. A specific place in her work holds a five-volume alternative history "Dream Empire" ("Roman Chronicles"). These Roman chronicles are kind of a construction, which is based on two pillars; one of them is Roman history, the other - Roman mythology. It is a kind of arch on which the world is built.
In 2002 she published a popular science book "The History of Ancient Rome."
