Maribeth Clemente was born in 1962 in the United States.
Maribeth Clemente graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy, New York. She was captivated by Paris when she first visited France at the age of sixteen and she later returned to the city to spend a year studying at Sorbonne University. Then she attended Simmons College (now Simmons University) where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in international management and fine arts.
Maribeth Clemente found herself back in Paris at the age of twenty-five. There, in 1987, she founded a tour company called Chic Promenade, which guided out-of-town shoppers through the Parisian shopping experience. Clemente compiled information about her favorite places into her first book, The Chic Shopper's Guide to Paris.
In 1994 Clemente left her tour company to devote more time to writing about her favorite subject. The result was The Riches of France: A Shopping and Touring Guide to the French Provinces, in which she provides a wealth of information for those planning a French shopping spree, from advice regarding trip planning and regional specialties to dining and lodging. The Riches of France is a lively read due to Clemente's humorous first-person voice and inclusion of plenty of anecdotes.
Clemente's third book, The Riches of Paris: A Shopping and Touring Guide, updates and expands upon her first volume on the subject of shopping in France's capital city. Clemente guides readers through various shops, restaurants, boutiques, and spas. While she includes a section on bargains, the destinations mentioned are mostly upscale using her vast insider's knowledge of the Parisian culture. Clemente shares her edge on the best boutiques, restaurants, wine cellars.
Her latest book, A Tour of the Heart: A Seductive Cycling Trip Through France, is a part memoir, part love story and a romantic ode to the most visited country in the world.
Clemente's current specialties are travel writing and ski instruction. She joined Telluride Ski & Golf as a ski instructor in 2003. She writes for Bonjour Colorado where she posts stories about travel, fashion, beauty, shopping. Her interests reflect an eclectic mix of culture, sophistication, and a dose of social consciousness. She also hosts Travel Fun, a talk show on travel on KOTO in Telluride.
