In 1973 Mario DiGregorio graduated from the Emerson College with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1983 he received a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the Bridgewater State College (now Bridgewater State University). DiGregorio had an additional graduate study at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Mario DiGregorio served as a park ranger for National Park Service of United States Government in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Colorado and a park resource manager for United States Army Corps of Engineers in Massachusetts and Illinois from 1976 to 1986.
Mario was a member of Endangered Species Task Force at the New England Plant Conservation Program. DiGregorio served as a consulting ecologist and rare plant specialist for Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program in Commonwealth of Massachusetts ans was a member of the Bourne Conservation Commission from 1982 to 1987.
In 1983 DiGregorio was appointed a professional wetland scientist and botanist at the Sabatia, Inc., an ecological organization in Hatchville, Massachusetts. He was a municipal conservation administrator at the Town of Brewster, Massachusetts from 1986 to 1988. In 1994 DiGregorio was a member of board of directors at the 300 Committee in Falmouth. In 1996 Mario was a member of the Falmouth Conservation Commission. He was a member of scientific advisory committees for Land Trust of Southeast Massachusetts and Cape Compact of Conservation Trusts. He was an expert witness in superior, district, and land courts on issues related to wetlands and wildlife.

On January 6, 1979 Mario DiGregorio married Phyllis M. Eastwood, a children’s librarian. She died in 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah E. DiGregorio.
