Career
She was elected to the Storting for three periods. From 1984 she was also a delegate to the United Nations General Assembly.
Membership
She was a member of the Storting from 1981 to 1993, representing Sør-Trøndelag. Rotnes was a member of the municipal council of Åfjord from 1975 to 1979, and from 1979 to 1981. During the first period, from 1981 to 1985, she was a member of Kommunalog miljøvernkomiteen.
