1918-1920 studied at Voronezh Agriculture Institute. 1925 graduated Physico-Mathematical Faculty, Central Asian University, majoring in plant physiology and microbiology.
1920-1921 in Communi cations Branch of 1st Army on Turkestan Front. 1925-1932 microbiologist, Ak-Kavak Experimental Station. Specialist in soil microbiology, especially the nature and structure of humus substances in USSR soils.
Participated in many expeditions to study soils of Central Asia, Transport-Volga region, Caucasus and other central regions of the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic. Deputy Chief Editor, journal “Pochvovedenie” (Pedology).
