Romantic drama explores the multiple forms of tyranny inflicted by human-created systems. By unmasking the embedded layers of ideology and revealing fictions that ideology perpetrated as truth, this work reveals the mental processes on which romantic drama's temporal and spatial issues rest. Works discussed include Wordsworth's The Borderers, Byron's Manfred and Werner, Shelley's The Cenci and Prometheus Unbound, and Baillie's Count Basil and De Montfort.
