He currently presents a number of television and radio programmes for British Broadcasting Corporation Northern Ireland. Carruthers first joined British Broadcasting Corporation Northern Ireland in 1989 as a freelance contributing to Good Morning Ulster and Prime Minister Ulster on British Broadcasting Corporation Radio Ulster. In addition to havng presented British Broadcasting Corporation Newsline, he has also presented Spotlight and Let"s Talk for television and Evening Extra on British Broadcasting Corporation Radio Ulster.
In August 2009, Carruthers became part of the presenting team of Good Morning Ulster as part of a series of presenter changes at British Broadcasting Corporation Radio Ulster.
He is now the presenter of The View and he is a presenter of the Sunday Politics Northern Ireland. He also presents the regular British Broadcasting Corporation Two Northern Ireland programme Stormont Today, a half hour analysis of the day"s debates at the Northern Ireland Assembly.
In 2002, Carruthers made the final shortlist for the award of Regional Presenter of the Year at the Royal Television Society awards.
