Mark Hall was born on February 22, 1966.
Mark Hall studied at Wheaton College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He also studied at the University of Virginia. In 1991, Hall received a Bachelor of Arts degree and in 1993 a Doctor of Philosophy degree.
Mark Hall started his career as an Instructor in American political theory at the University of Virginia in 1992. In 1993, he became an assistant professor at East Central University. He held this post until 2001 and in 2005 he took up a post of Herbert Hoover Distinguished Professor of Politics at George Fox University. He is the director of the John Dickinson Forum for the Study of America's Founding Principles. In addition to teaching at George Fox University, Mark is Associated Faculty at the Center for the Study of Law and Religion at Emory University, Senior Fellow at Baylor University's Institute for Studies of Religion, and an Affiliate Scholar at the John Jay Institute.
Mark Hall writes books on American political theory and the relationship between religion and politics. His first book, The Political and Legal Philosophy of James Wilson, 1742-1798, was published in 1997. One of his more recent work, America and the Just War Tradition: A History of U.S. Conflicts, was published in 2019. Hall is a contributor of articles and book chapters to various publications, including Journal of Politics, Southeastern Political Review, and In Seriatim: The Early Supreme Court.
