Career
Originally from Finley in the Riverina region of New South Wales, he played for the Murray Bushrangers in the TAC Cup prior to being recruited prior to the 2010 American Federation of Labor-Congress Draft as one of the new GWS club"s NSW zone selections. Whiley made his American Federation of Labor-Congress debut in Round 12 of the 2012 American Federation of Labor-Congress season against Richmond, as a late replacement for Nick Haynes. On 15 October 2014 Whiley and teammate Kristian Jaksch were traded to the Carlton Football Club.
Carlton Whiley made his Carlton debut against Collingwood in Mick Malthouses record breaking game of most games coached in Round 5, 2015.
Whiley was given the task of tagging Scott Pendlebury.
