1918-1920 fought in Civil War. 1939-1941 in Soviet-Finnish War, then commanded an infantry division. 1942-1943 commanded a Soviet army.

1943-1945, with rank of Colonel-General, Commander, Bryansk Front during Kursk-Orel campaign. Commander, 70th Army on Second Belarusian Front. 1944 took part in Belarusian and 1944-1945 East Prussian campaigns.

1946-1955 Commander, Tauric Military District. Deputy, USSR Supreme Soviet of 1950, 1954 and 1958 convocation.
