Lieutenant-Colonel of Cavalry, 1864. Colonel, 1869; Brigade-General, 1872. Division General, 1874.
Lieutenant-General, 1878. He has been Commander-in-Chief of the Canary Island, Baleares, Philippines, Burgos Navarra, Vascongados, Catalusia, Cuba, Madrid. Went through the campaigns of Santo Domingo, Cuba (twice), Civil War in the north of Spain, and Mindanao Island. Has many home and foreign decorations. Minister of War in the Liberal Government presided over by Sagasta, and in the present Government.
