Martha Attema

Background

Martha Attema was born on December 22, 1949 in Menaldum, Friesland, Netherlands, in the family of Wilke and Romkje (Noordenbos) Hoogterp. In 1981 she immigrated to Canada.

Education

In 1966 - 1970 Martha attended a teacher’s college in the Netherlands. In 1986 she received Bachelor of Arts at Laurentian University. Then she earned Bachelor of Education at Laurentian University in 1989.

Career

Marthe worked as a kindergarten teacher in Giekerk, the Netherlands, in 1969-1973. Since 1987 she works as a teacher of kindergarten and grade one in North Bay, Ontario, Canada.

Achievements

• Martha is famous for her books "The Unhappy Pinetree", "A Time to Choose", and "A Light in the Dunes."
