Career
Born in Ince-in-Makerfield, Wigan, Crompton played for Warrington in the late 1980s and moved to his hometown club Wigan in 1992. After a season with Wigan, Crompton went to Oldham in 1993 and was captain of the Roughyeds. When Oldham was relegated from Super League, Crompton went to Salford.
He retired from rugby league but was assistant coach at Widnes.
He is now coaching Blackpool. Crompton played as an Interchange/Substitute, id est (that is) number 15, (replacing wing Martin Offiah ) in Wigan"s 5-4 victory over Saint Helens in the 1992 Lancashire Cup final during the 1992-1993 season at Knowsley Road, Saint Helens on Sunday 18 October 1992.
Crompton was an Ireland international and played at the 2000 Rugby League World Cup.
