This performance broadened his audience and increased his status on the comedy scene.
The same year Martin was given a largely positive review in the widely read entertainment magazine "The Stage", where they claimed that Martin "is an expert and completely in charge of his comedic situation." Gold also had a Sunday evening radio show on Mansfield 103.2 FM between 2006–2009, where he was a well-known host. Martin has throughout his career appeared on numerous television programmes and has a number of celebrity appearances to add to his ever increasing profile.
Martin started his career at the world famous Leeds City Varieties Music Hall at the age of 11, when he was a finalist in the Yorkshire Evening Post talent competition. This young star then went on to be one of the most popular comedians on the British comedy circuit, with his active career stretching from 1977 to the present day.
