Career
Lejeune spent his childhood and youth in Nuremberg and Bielefeld. He passed the Abitur through a Second Chance School ( Commission on the Rules for the Approval of the Electrical Equipment). In 2004, he received a degree in political science from Otto-Suhr-Institut of the Free University of Berlin.
He is known for his criticism of Israel, his involvement in the Toilettenaffäre and the controversy surrounding journalist accreditation at the NSU trial and for his reporting on the Syrian Civil War.
He covered the 2014 Israel–Gaza conflict remotely. Critics said Lejeune let himself be exploited by Hamas.
In an article about the public execution of 18 alleged collaborators by Hamas, he referred to the economic assistance provided by the Palestinian Authority to the bereaved as "very socially expired".
