Martin Ryan made his début for Wigan, and scored a try in the 21-0 victory over Oldham at Watersheddings, Oldham on Saturday 21 September 1940, he scored his last Wigan try in the 13-6 victory over Bradford Northern in the Championship final during the 1951-1952 season at Leeds Road, Huddersfield (Huddersfield Town Football Club) on Saturday 10 May 1952, his last match for Wigan was the 2-15 defeat to Workington Town at Borough Park, Workington on Saturday 20 September 1952. Martin Ryan was the older brother of the rugby league football player for Warrington, Andrew "Andy" Ryan (birth registered during January→March 1927 in Wigan district).
