His work helped identify the molecular actors underpinning immune defense, such as tyrosine kinases and microRNAs. Martin Turner received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (1985) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Immunology (1990) from University College London. He was post-doctoral scientist at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute of the University of Michigan and at the United Kingdom National Institute for Medical Research.
He joined the Babraham Institute as a principal investigator in 1997 and became head of the laboratory of lymphocyte signalling and development in 2005.
