Background

Stover, Martin Luther was born on October 19, 1845 in Waterloo, New York, United States. Son of Martin J. and Lydia (Hartman) Stover.

Education

Student Wittenberg College, Springfield. O., but before finishing his 1st year, at age of 16, enlisted in the 86th Ohio Infantry. From 1863, served 17th Ohio Battery until close of war.

Resumed college studies, 1865, and after graduation taught school in Amsterdam, New York, and devoted spare time to study of law.

Career

Admitted to bar, 1870. Practiced at Amsterdam until 1892, New York, since 1906.

Member New York Assembly, 1874.
