Collura received her education at the University of British Columbia, graduating from it with a bachelor's degree in 1972.
Collura devoted her career to two things, teaching and writing. Since 1972, she is a full-time senior secondary English, Creative Writing, History and Journalism teacher in Campbell River, and since 1984, a freelance writer.
Collura is a member of the Writer’s Union of Canada and Sierra Legal Defense Fund.
Collura married John Collura in 1970, however, the couple decided to get divorced. Collura gave birth to 4 children: Aaron, Isaac, Shaun (deceased) and Stefany.
