Maryann Sinwell was born on January 17, 1960 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, United States; the daughter of Bernard Regis Sinwell and Margaret Louise (Savani) Sinwell.
Sinwell received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1981. Eleven years later she earned her Master of Business Administration degree from the same university.
Sinwell began her career as a nuclear reactor pump design engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company (nowadays Westinghouse Electric Corporation) in 1981. Three years later she took the position of a nuclear fuel design engineer at the same company. Then in 1986, Maryann became a licensing engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company. Also she served as a senior project engineer at that company from 1987 to 1991.
In 1991, Sinwell held the position of a senior marketing engineer at Westinghouse Electric Corporation. In 1993, she was appointed a project and program manager at the same corporation. Also in 1998, Maryann was an account manager at Statoil Energy Services, where she developed and implemented a market plan to lead new energy business segment in western Pennsylvania and surrounding areas for commercial and industrial customers.
In addition, in 1998, Maryann became a project manager at Formtek, A Lockheed Martin Company. A year later she was appointed a manager of commercial management at Marconi Communications, Inc., where she managed supplier quote and proposal activities producing aggressive costs savings in a declining market. In 2002, Sinwell took a position of a manager of strategic sourcing at Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc., where she led strategic sourcing staff according to company policies and procedures to effectively achieve company and department objectives. Since 2014 she has been a customer development and engineering director at Hamill Manufacturing Company.
On September 5, 1981 Maryann Sinwell married Robert Gerald Colclaser III, with whom she divorced in 1986.
