Masahide Takasaki was born on October 16, 1901 in Toyama, Japan.
He graduated from Kokugakuin College.
After graduating from Kokugakuin College, taught briefly at Aichi Prefectural First Girls' High School, Aichi Commercial Middle School to become instructor at his alma mater (1934) and then professor at Jissen Women's College. Rejoined his alma mater as professor (1942) and after receiving a doctorate (1950) was promoted dean of its Faculty of Literature. Among his works are "Introduction to Fictional Literature," "Essays on Manyoshii" and Rokkasen Zengo (history of six noted poets of the Heian Period).
