Resigned the ministry (1943) and assigned to the Naval Staff Headquarters. Promoted to First Lieutenant of the Navy (1945), but demobilized after the end of the war and rejoined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Served in several offices of the ministry, appointed to the Overseas Office at San Francisco (1950). He became chief of the Second Section of the Treaty Bureau in 1954. In the same year attended the Japan-Burma Peace Treaty Conference.
