Masami Shimoda was a commentator on economic affairs and an executive member of the Mainichi Shimbun (newspaper) for many years. He was a director of the Nichibei (Japan-America) News Agency. He wrote on economic and social affairs. His books include Keizai-no Tachiba-kara (From the Economic Viewpoint), Fujiwara Ginjird Kaiko HachijUnen (The Eighty Years of Ginjiro Fujiwara).
