Masamune Okazaki was a swordsmith. He devised new methods of forging blades and finally became the best swordsmith of his time. He was responsible for the revival of the sword forging in the Kamakura Period.

Achievements
Masamune had many disciples who came from all parts of the country. Among his distinguished disciples were Yoshihiro Go, Kaneuji Shizu, Kaneshige, Moritaka Kongo, Kanemitsu, Nagayoshi Kunishige and Naotsuna.
