Masanobu Kitamura

Background

Masanobu Kitamura was born in Niigata Prefecture. He became adopted heir of Shikai Kitamura, noted marble sculptor.

Education

Masanobu Kitamura entered research institute of Taiheiyo Art Society and there learned dessin from Fusetsu Nakamura and Kunishiro Mitsuya and plastic art from Shikai, his father and Taketaro Shinkai.

Career

Following his father in his style, Masanobu Kitamura has concentrated mainly upon marble sculpture, executing works of elegance, such as "A Woman Washing Her Hair" and "Pose."

Achievements

• Starting with Bunten (The Education Ministry's Art Exhibition) (1911) up to the present Nitten (The Japan Art Exhibition), has been continually exhibiting works at government-sponsored art exhibitions.
