Masanori Yusa was born on June 20, 1915 in Tadotsu, Kagawa, Japan.
Masanori Yusa graduated from Nihon University and later worked for the Yokohama Rubber Company.
Masanori Yusa was a member of Japanese swimming team to 10th Olympic Games in Los Angeles (1932) when the Japanese team won the 800-meter relay race with the time of 8.58.4, setting up a new Olympic record. At the 11th Olympic Games held in Berlin (1936) he again helped the Japanese team to win the relay race with a time of 8.51.5, and in the 100-meter free style he placed second with a time of 57.9. His Japan records for the 100 and 200 meters stood unbroken till 1949. Later Masanori Yusa was a director of Japan Swimming Association.
In 1942, Masanori Yusa married Yumeko Aizome, a famous stage and silent/sound film actress in Japan.
