Tamai Masao graduated from Osaka Photography School (1924).
Career
Tamai Masao joined Teikoku Film Company and then changed over to Utaemon Productions for whom he filmed Yaju (Wild Beast), in which Utaemon Ichikawa starred.
He was an active worker in cine movements and an official of Japan Movie Photographers Club, which was formed after World War II.
Other pictures which he was associated with as cameraman are Tsuma (Wife), Yamano Oto (Sound of Mountain) Banlciku (Late Chrysanthemum) and Ukigumo (Floating Cloud). Mostly worked with director Mikio Naruse.
