Graduated from Tokyo University (1908).
Career
Appointed instructor of Waseda University, instructor of Keio University (1912) and then professor of the same university. Received degree in literature for studies in calendars of ancient China (1941); retired under age limit and became emeritus professor of Keio University (1944). Following year was appointed the president of Toyo University; resigned under purge directive (1946). Noted for his researches in the ancient history of China especially calen.
