Career
In his time there were three schools of Kama-hozoin-ryu of spearing: the Nakamura, Takata and Shimoishi. Matabe first belonged to the Nakamura school, and after mastering it originated his own school, the Takata school. Later was retained by Tadamasa Ogasawara and many lords became his pupil.
