Matsuko Kido was born in 1843.
After the death of her husband (1877) Matsuko Kido became a nun under the name of Suikoin and spent the rest of her life attending her husband's tomb at Kyoto.
Matsuko Kido fell in love and married Takayoshi (Koin) Kido, the veteran statesman of the late Meiji Era. It was mainly due to her encouragement and constant care that Kiclo was able to rise high in the political field.
