Background
Bigland was born in Kendal in 1985. Bigland"s father passed away while Bigland was still young, so Bigland was raised by his mother in Lancashire along with his older brother. His mother and older brother influenced his music tastes with "80"s popular and power ballad bands" and rock music
Career
In 2004, Bigland moved to Leeds and later formed in 2006. An experimental rock group consisting of Bigland, Lindsey Wilson, Tom Hudson (later of Pulled Apart By Horses) and Ben Waddleton. released 1 single under on the Bone Records which was called "Keep Your Wits Sharp (Her Words Are Quick)" in May 2007, however the band soon split towards the end of 2007. In 2007 after the break up of his previous band,, Bigland started up his new group and later called in bassist Tom Dunford and drummer Steve Wilson to finish the line-up.
Originally, the band was meant to be a side solo project for Matt, but when broke up, became his main priority.
They then later released 2 EPs in 2009. The Traynor 7 and The Most Powerful European Parliament in the Universe.
They also were invited to go on tour with alternative rock group The Pixies on their Euro tour. Their debut album Growing Pains was released in October 2010.
In 2013, the band"s second studio album Nature Nurture was released prior to their United States tours of 2014.
Currently, the "final line-up" consists of drummer Mike Sheils and bassist Jim Cratchely. Bigland, Sheils, and Cratchley all collectively created and recorder the band"s most recent album, Eleven Eleven. have supported bands such as Feeder, Twin Atlantic, Cage The Elephant, Middle Class Rut, Brand New, and Weezer.
