Orphaned at an early age. Began work at the age of nine. Member of a fishing kolkhoz.
In 1930's more than 100 of Korguycv’s fairy talcs were written down by A. North. Nechayev (78 of them were published in 1939). Could also relate various epics and Karelian runes which he had learned from his mother. His repertoire included magic tales notable for their sustained epic style and abundant details of everyday life.
Gave narrations in Moscow, Leningrad and Petrozavodsk. Publ fairy tales Audrey Strelets (Andrey the Archer). Shkip (The Urchin); Yelena Prekrasnaya (Helen the Beautiful).
