Matvey Abramovich Osherovsky began his creative activity at the Moscow Art Academic Theater named after M. Gorky. He graduated from the department of general stage management of the State Institute of Theatrical Art named after A.V. Lunacharsky (now Russian Academy of Theatre Arts).
In 1946, Matvey Abramovich became an artist and director of the Kharkov Comedy Theater (until 1951). His main achievements: Chief director of the Gorky (1952-1954), Voronezh (1955-1958) theaters of musical comedy, the Krasnodar Theater of Operetta (1958-1960), the Stavropol Regional Theater of Musical Comedy (1961-1962), the Odessa Theater of Musical Comedy (1962-1977). In 1977, he took the position of the professor of the Gnessin State Musical Pedagogical Institute (now Gnessin State Musical College) (Moscow). He also was the Deputy Chief Director of the Olympics in Moscow (1980).
