The issues of disarmament and antidisarmament led to struggles among various political parties, unions, and the press in the early 1930s.
Le Pacifisme en Europe des annees 1920 aux annees 1950 (1993), an earlier achievement, was edited by Vaisse and contains twenty-one contributions that were presented in December 1992 at a colloquium in Reims. Five of the twenty-one papers are English, the remaining in French, and focus on the practice of pacifism from the 1920s to the 1950s. Many of these papers focus on pacifism in France specifically.
