Background

Wright, Maurice Lauchlin was born on November 27, 1845 in Oswego Company, New York, United States. Son of David Parks and Betsey (Woodworth) Wright.

Education

Educated Falley Seminary, Fulton, New York, and Mexico (New York) Academy, 1861-1864. Returned to Mexico Academy after war. Bachelor of Laws, Columbian (now George Washington University, 1870.

Career

Judge Avery Skinner, of Union Square, New York, November 3, 1869. Enlisted in United States Navy, 1864. Yeoman United States gunboat Valley City, was in Roanoke Expedition following the sinking of the ram Albemarl by Cushing, and in several engagements.

Admitted to District of Columbia Bar, June 1, 1870, New York bar May 1872. Company judge, Oswego County, New York, 1883-1892. Member Constitutional Commission, 1890.

Judge Supreme Court of the New York, 1891-1905.
