Career
Gawn was selected with the 34th overall pick in the 2009 American Federation of Labor-Congress Draft by the Melbourne Demons. He was recruited from the Sandringham Dragons. The position of where Gawn was to be taken in the draft was the cause of much speculation due to his almost unique size.
Gawn, at a height of 208 cm, is the third tallest American Federation of Labor-Congress player, behind Collingwood"s ruckman Jarrod Witts, who is 209 cm, and Fremantle"s ruckman Aaron Sandilands, who is 211 cm.
