Career

However, on 16 November 2014, Beigh announced his support to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, patron of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also decided to withdraw his candidature for 2014 Assembly elections from Anantnag constituency and instead campaign for Sayeed. In the 2009 election he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency of Jammu & Kashmir.

He is a medical practitioner and studied Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Srinagar Medical College and resides at Srinagar.

Has also served in the Cabinet as one of the ace ministers of the State,is widely hailed as a person who gave huge employment in South Kashmir in particular. The announcement in this regard was made by the PDP President, Ms Mehboob Mufti.

Achievements

• A member of many prestigious Parliamentary Committees and winner of various awards including the best legislator award. Despite this Beg pulled-off a famous win.

Politics

A former minister and former parliamentarian, Doctor Beg is in the State politics for the past more than two decades. Uring March 2009 to May 2009 he was member of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council also.He is known for his party changing politics and has changed a dozen parties. Many political experts believe only he could have pulled-off a victory in the Parliamentary polls as 12 out of the 16 assembly seats in the Anantnag Parliamentary seat were held by the opposition PDP. Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)appointed Doctor Mirza Mehboob Beg as the party’s Chief Spokesperson.

Membership

He was members of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly for two terms during 1983-1987 and 2002–2008.
