Settled in Tacoma, 1920, and bought a malleable steel and iron foundry. Organized, 1921, The Tennent Steel Casting Company, of which is president Also acquired the Aurora Foundry, at Seattle, the Bilroe Alloys Company, and erected a modern foundry at Portland, Oregon.
Twice elected mayor of Tacoma.
Resigned in 1929 because of lack of coöperation by the city council. Reëlected, March 1930, by a majority of more than 5,000, for term ending May 1934.
Vice-president and manager Atlas Foundry & Machine Company. October 1940, moved to Seattle, Washington, and reopened the Tennent Steel Casting Company, Incorporated.
