In 2013 he was considered the twenty fourth most influential Ghanaian, in a poll run by ETV Ghana. In 2015, Ghanaians voted him as the "Most Influential Person in Ghana", according to a list published by ETV Ghana. Otabil oversees the network of ministries of the International Central Gospel Church worldwide.
He also serves as the senior pastor of Christ Temple, a ministry of the International Central Gospel Church.
His work has centered on issues relevant to Africa, although he has spoken internationally at various conferences and churches. Otabil has a history of involvement in charitable and social impact projects.
Every year, the International Central Gospel Church invests in a project for the less privileged. Some examples in the past have been donations to the Ghana Heart Foundation, construction of a boy"s hostel for the Osu Children"s Home and digging of boreholes for needy communities.
