Master of Science in Applied Physics, Ecole Normale Superieure, Cachan, 1999. Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering, Ecole Normale Superieure, Cachan, 2002.
Since 2007, he is a full Professor at CentraleSupélec. He has co-founded several start-ups and is now director of the Huawei Mathematical and Algorithmic Sciences Laboratory in Paris. He received the prestigious European Research Council (European Research Council) grant in 2012 and is considered as one of the best experts in the field by the European Commission.
A former student of Lycée Henri IV, Mérouane Debbah entered the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan in 1996 and obtained his Phd degree in 2002.
He started his career at Motorola Labs in Saclay in 1999. He joined the Telecommunication Research Center of Vienna in 2002 as a senior researcher (ftw).
At the early age of 31, he became a full Professor at Supélec (campus of Gif-sur-Yvette). At the same time, he founded and was director of the Alcatel-Lucent chair on Flexible Radio.
This was the first industrial chair in Telecommunication in France with close ties between Supélec and Bell-laboratories
He is among the pioneers in the technological development of small cells and Massive Multiple-input and multiple-output for wireless cellular networks. He founded at the end of 2014 the Huawei Mathematical and Algorithmic Sciences Laboratory in Paris, with a special focus on 5G. From 2003 to 2007, he was a member of the academic staff of Eurecom in Sophia-Antipolis.
