He completed his Master of Business Administration degree at Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad.
He was Minister of Tourism for the Punjab from 2003-2008 and has represented an area of Lahore in the Provincial Assembly of The Punjab since May 2013. Political career
He started his political career at Union Council level, being elected Nazim of Union Council 106 (University of California-106) in 2001 as an independent candidate, a position he held until 2002. During his first term he addressed issues in his constituency including water and sanitation, road building and renovation of parks.
He joined the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) party and became the Minister of Tourism for the Punjab in January 2003. Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal lost his seat in the 2008 general election but maintained a political office in his constituency in New Mozang, Lahore. In the 2013 general election he stood for election in the Partido Popular (Popular Party)-148 constituency, representing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party.
He won the seat with 54,893 votes, over 5,000 more than the runner-up,a candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League (North).
Later in 2002 he was elected as a Member of the Provincial Assembly of The Punjab for constituency Partido Popular (Popular Party)-148 Lahore-XII.
