Michael earned a BA from Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio (1966), and an MA from the University of Chicago (1968).
A freelance photographer since 1970, Abramson has had his work published in such periodicals as Time, N.Y. Times, New Times, Look, Americana, New York, People, Us, Quick and Stern Manchete. He has also worked on assignment for Black Star. A photojournalist, Abramson has covered such topics as political conventions and candidates, Northern Ireland, coal strikes, flooding of the Mississippi and street gangs of the South Bronx.
The ASMP member won a CAPS grant in 1974 and a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship in 1966 from the University of Chicago.
