Background
Michael was born on May 20, 1820, in Warsaw, Poland. In 1840 he went to Paris and to Italy in 1846, where his opera "Louisa di Montfort" was successfully produced (Florence, 1847). After living in Vienna (1850-1853), Berlin and Leipzig, he revisited Paris and brought out a 1-act opera "Qui va a la chasse, perd sa place"(1859). In a short time, he became a director of Geneva Conservatory. In a few years, he went to London where he worked as a private teacher and where he died.
