He received his Bachelor of Surgery in 1983 from Brigham Young University and his Master of Accountancy (MAcc) from the school"s Marriott School of Management two years later. Clayton become interested in starting a restaurant when he worked as a Certified Public Accountant (Certified Public Accountants) for Coopers and Lybrand (later merged into PricewaterhouseCoopers), which performed professional services for over 250 Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants.
