He was a commercial traveller, and was secretary of the Trolley Draymen and Carters" Union. He later became involved with the Federated Clerks" Union and with the Australian Labor Party, serving on the executive of the latter from 1911 to 1912. He died at Putney in 1930.
From 1917 to 1930 he was a Labor member of the New South Wales Legislative Council.
